LOW LIGHT TACTICS

$750 PER PERSON | 3 DAYS

Our 3-Day Low Light Tactics course provides fundamental knowledge and skills needed to work safely and effectively in reduced light conditions. We focus on low light principles, which can be applied across a full range of operating environments and law enforcement missions – patrol, narcotics, SWAT, etc. We will teach and drill techniques for moving and searching without being tracked/ targeted and for using a hand-held flashlight with a pistol to accurately engage threats. We will also work on reading and understanding light conditions and selecting techniques and tactics appropriate to those conditions. The course includes classroom presentation, live fire drills, and non-lethal training ammunition (NLTA) drills and exercises (force-on-target and force-on-force).

    • Physiology and psychology of night operations
    • Application of O-O-D-A and Hick’s Law to low light operations 
    • Reading and understanding light conditions
    • Low-light engagement principles
    • Use of lighting conditions for tactical advantage
    • Review of strong-hand only shooting
    • Neck index flashlight method
    • Modified Harries method for shooting around cover
    • Weapon light employment
    • Moving and searching with a flashlight
    • Entering and clearing structures in low light

PREREQUISITES

This course is restricted to US military, law enforcement, and select security professionals who have documented intermediate to advanced level pistol training. A good understanding of room clearing principles is helpful, but not required.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Tactical flashlight
    • Duty pistol (tritium sights and weapon light recommended)
    • NLTA conversion kit for pistol (converted Glock pistols are available for use)
    • PPE (eye and double ear protection; hat or helmet; groin protection; body armor is optional but recommended)
    • Notepad & pen
    • Approximately 300 rounds of quality pistol training ammunition
    • Approximately 100 rounds of NLTA ammunition (live and NLTA ammo are available for purchase in our on-site ProShop)

  • We typically offer open enrollment NV Operator courses 2 to 3 times per year at our facility in Brunswick, GA. You can register on our open enrollment schedule.
